Where to go, what to do, and — most importantly—where to eat pasta in Rome, Italy.

Oh, Rome. With spectacular historic buildings, warm weather, and some of the best pasta likely in the entire world, you can’t go wrong with a trip here. And we’ve recently added thousands of new spots to Rome, so there’s never been a better time to explore the city on Spot and start saving your travel inspiration.

To get you started, we put together a selection of some of our very favorite spots to visit in Rome, Italy —beautiful sights, delicious gelato, and, of course, plenty of amazing pasta. 🙌

Scroll through them below and add the ones you like to your own list on Spot here.

Wander through Trastevere

There’s no better way to kick off a weekend in Rome than to start by exploring one of the city’s most beautiful neighborhoods —Trastevere. Think cobblestone lanes and paths that twist and wind up and down the hills, ivy-covered restaurants serving up delicious food, and weekend markets with fresh produce.

Get Pasta at Flavio al Velavevodetto

In a historic building on a quiet residential street sits Flavio al Velavevodetto. Famous for their delicious, handmade pastas, and also for their creamy tiramisu. You won’t want to miss this spot!

Gelato at Fatamorgana

Gelato, gelato, gelato. There are countless spots in Rome to get a cone of creamy, rich gelato, but one of our favorites is Fatamorgana. This spot is known for high-quality gelato and classic yet delicious flavors, like chocolate with hazelnut, basil, and pistachio.

Trevi Fountain

There’s something magical about the Trevi Fountain, and we always recommend finding time to stop here, relax, and admire the beautiful sculptures when in Rome. Our only tip? This spot is popular almost all of the time, so your best bet is to show up in the early morning for a more peaceful experience (and a better photo op!).

More Pasta at Felice a Testaccio

You can never have too much pasta in Rome, and Felice a Testaccio is a must-visit, especially if you’re looking to try one of Rome’s most famous pasta’s — cacio e pepe (pasta in a pepper and cheese sauce). This spot is known for serving some of the best cacio e pepe in the city, though their other hand-made pastas are also undeniably delicious. This trattoria books up in advance, so reservations are recommended (and very much worth it).

Pizza at Sforno

When in Rome… eat pizza. Sforno serves Neopolitan-style pizza that’s baked in a wood-fired oven with simple, delicious toppings. Sforno is located outside of the city center, but you’ll find a visit there is well-worth it during a weekend in Rome.
